Winery Info:

Chateau Villepreux is the family property of Bernard Laurent head of winemaking and technical director at Ginestet. Situated in Beychac et Caillau in the Entre Deux Mers area of Bordeaux this is a 28 hectare estate and one of the key petit chateau in the Ginestet range and a cornerstone of the companys charter of quality. Entre Deux Mers is more famous for its white Bordeaux blends but Villepreux shows that this area can excel at Merlot dominated red blends.

Vineyard information:

A 28 hectare estate planted to 50% Merlot 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc located close to Bordeaux in the commune of Beychac et Caillau Entre Deux Mers. The soils are claylimestone and the land is gently undulating rather than hilly. With vines trained in the double guyot method the harvest is mechanical. Vine age is on average 12 years.

Food Pairing:

Pot au Feu (french meat stew) or magret de canard (roasted duck breast).

Abv:
12.5%
Grape Variety:

Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc

Tasting Note:

The wine has a lovely garnet-red colour. The nose is an amalgam of red fruit brightness and vanilla notes. Rounded, quite powerful and well-structured, the overall effect is bright, lively and immediately appealing. As a product of the outstanding 2005 vintage, the wine is ready to enjoy right now, but will age well over the next 5 years.
